Help with ETC Express

It would? The incoming DMX from the console or splitter wouldn't plug into a panel jack, keeping the wiring outside the HV section of the device?

Hi all, sorry for disappearing, we have a built in dimmer rack from Electronics Diversified, Theatre Switchboard "MARK" Series. So, maybe an ETC precursor? It does have clean power. It might be too warm in there but it's not a sauna.
It probably does need to be vacuumed, our hvac is a joke.
What we have done is to add the terminators to all the lines that didn't have any (except for opening the dimmer rack since we're not pros). We also swapped the two dmx inputs into the board so the one that had been in dimmers 1-512 is now in the one for dimmers 513-1024 and vice versa. At some point we'd assigned them both to dimmers 1-512 using the first for dimmers 1-96 and the second for dimmers 97-171 (we had new LED fixtures not running through the dimmer room). So for whatever reason it is working now. No flashing, all behaving appropriately. The thing that still has us scratching our heads is that the board worked normally with a different dimmer rack in the black box. But at least it is working now in the theatre where we need it.

Seems something was mad and showed it.

It looks like you did all the steps that you could and hopefully everything stays working.

No panel jack(s); for an installed rack, the control wiring enters the rack via conduit. Where's the DMX512 cable in this picture?

Where's the terminator? If one doesn't know, seems prudent to stay out.

I have run into plenty of Leviton and other similar installed racks with no terminator. Many are installed by a general contractor, and they know little to nothing about DMX. Some have basically terminal strips for data connections, where you would need to add a resistor, others have a termination dip switch inside on the circuit board.

Glad the system is functioning again; good idea to start thinking about a replacement/repair plan for the future.
