Hi.. My name is Rick and I am a parent volunteer of lighting at a non-profit theater group. I have been doing this for about 4 years now with no background in theater lighting. I do know my way around a volt meter, romex, cat5, Ethernet, token ring, light bulb, bnc, fiber optic cable, 66 and 110 twisted pair punch down.. And now, stage pin, non-nema 20 amp locking, 3, 4, 5 pin dmx, ETC, S4, Selecon, PAR, rosco gel, ETC light board, dimmer rack, FLK, HPL575, lighting plot from the designer and my favorite – “rotating gobo” – wow.. What a new vocabulary I picked up. 
We produce two shows a year with a cast of about130 kids which is split into two casts. I have used this website for some technical information early on and finally added my ID about 3 months ago and now added my first post.
