A feature of many dimmer racks and lighting fixtures where the last valid DMX state will be held if DMX is lost or removed. Dimmer racks often have a variable, user-adjustable time period, after which it will fade all dimmers to zero.
Each ML manufacturer chooses to handle DMX loss behavior in its own way. Martin lights will maintain their last state forever. High End Systems fixtures will hold the last look for 5-10 minutes, then destrike their lamp and shutdown. Other fixtures may shutdown immediately upon loss of DMX.
