Looks like a lot of people are going to be affected by Laura both initially by the massive winds and storm surge, later by tornados, and then ongoing heavy wind and rain for days across across many states. Check in and let us know how you are doing. Be safe. We'll all be praying for you.

What, no love for the corn belt being hit with a hurricane? Seriously, it happened, two weeks ago. 140mph winds, rain, all the fun without the floods or news coverage!

We heard about your derecho, and they are no fun. Had one here about eight or nine years ago. We were outside having a rehearsal with a video screen in an old lime kiln. We got a phone call saying a storm was on the other side of the mountains coming towards us. Now normally other side of the mountains means an hour, so we finished the scene we were working on and started putting things away. Then the storm hit. Got the screen down only because the kiln was built where the lime was quarried so we were below the surrounding ground level. We rode it out inside one of the old kiln chimneys. The site was a mess as was the whole county. Nope, don't want to go through another one of those.

Iowa got national news coverage amidst all the other ongoing crises. It's pretty hard for people to react during a pandemic when they otherwise might, and some are running out of empathy bandwidth. On the bright side, you're in a swing state, so FEMA might actually do something. Notice that it got a response from Trump, and there hasn't been one for California fires?

This is true, and we're doing pretty well all things considered. Even if we lost ~65% of our trees.

Looks like Laura hit just as hard, plus the floods.
