I have no idea how to patch, can anyone help?

So, I have recently come into the role of Co-Head of Lights Crew at my school. The last head recently graduated, but before she left, she did not teach either of us how to patch and we have no way of contacting her. We've been told that patching is very useful, but seeing as we don't have the manual for our board, we are completely clueless. Can someone please give us some instruction?

Additionally, see Patch, Types of (Lighting). Exactly which kind of patch are we talking about?

Typically, fixture->circuit->dimmer->channel. Lots of chances for errors along the way.

Also, depending on what board and dimmers you have you can search Youtube for instruction videos. There are several manufacturers represented there.
Finding the online manual is the big ticket but videos can back up what you are reading. Let us know what you have and maybe somebody can help out.
