Automated Fixtures LED based VL500

I heard a rumor from a well trusted friend/vendor that there is going to be an LED based VL500 series fixture coming to market soon. From what I have been told the source is based on some technology that came to VL when Phillips brought them into the fold. It seems that the technology has been in the works there for about 40 yrs. Dating back to initial use as a backlight source.
Anyone else heard anything about these? Should be comparable to a MAC700 or a VL2500 in output.

But seriously, I haven't heard anything, but I'm not exactly "in the loop" as you would say. Do keep us posted though, the thought of that is quite exciting.

A prototype (two units actually) was shown semi-privately at LDI, October 2008. They have many obstacles to overcome, and personally I don't expect the fixture to be available until Q3-2009 at the earliest.
