Legal Chase for Portable Cables + Company Switch Questions

perhaps the electricians should borrow a burlap bag or two from the riggers to temporarily soften the edges. That or the fire bags can be arranged so the chase edges are not in contact with the cable. In any case the electrician should spend some time inspecting the cable run and taking any appropriate action necessary. both before the run is made and after.

Sounds sort of amusing, but not code compliant--which I think you, and all of us aim to be.

Inspection is fine, but an installation that invites damage to cables (a raw conduit edge) needs to be corrected before dragging cable through it.

I appreciate all the replies. Does anyone else have photos of a cable chase to post? Any other advice about firestopping pillows and related topics?

Thanks.

HI,

you may also want to look into the sprinkler system and codes. A small room that would have dimmers in it may NOT be allowed to be sprinkled. A discharge from the sprinklers due to high temperatures in the room could actually CAUSE problems. Especially since it is a church and not a theater originally.
