1. Touring. Person responsible for maintaining/re-creating the designer's vision for the production. Often runs the consoles (but may not have programmed it initially) and calls followspot cues. In theatre, the designer very rarely if ever tours. In music it may be about fifty-fifty.

2. TV. Same as above, but, even with the Lighting Designer present, a large production may have multiple Lighting Directors, each assigned a specific duty. One may be in charge solely of focusing conventionals, while another may deal only with the followspots, another with the cuing of consoles, and so on. On a televised awards show (Grammys, Oscars, Golden Globes, etc.).
