A bit commercial here, sorry, but...

ETC and its new Education Center are launching into the world of Training videos.

You may have heard about the Express videos now available from any ETC dealer. (Ion videos coming soon.)

We are also looking for ideas for simple videos that would be useful to our customers for explaining, teaching, training... So check out the first Bobblehead Fred Production:

"Why Did My Console Do That?" covering Tracking versus Preset, HTP versus LTP, Move Fade versus State.

Bobblehead Fred :: Why did my console do that?

So what do you think? Did it work for you? Will you share it?
Feel free to send comments or suggestions for other video topics to:

Back to lurking.

I like this idea a lot. While I understand all of these topics, I'll definitely point people who don't in the direction of this video. It's very hard to make an educational video that doesn't seem slightly contrived in some way, so I never judge in that respect. There's a lot of good information there, and that's what counts! I'll definitely pass it on.

In addition to the educational videos, I'd suggest more along the lines of the wildly successful David Silvernail/Sarah Clausen collaboration: Element at USITT.:)

With the Unison product family now encompassing so many new products (ETC makes Show Control? MSC? Who knew?), I'd also like to see some concentration there as well. Paradigm, Mosaic, DRd, Heritage, Legacy, Pharos--it's very confusing.

(Love the Kliegl Bros. 3-scene preset console in the video. One from the Fred Foster Memorial Museum and Bait Shop?)

I thought it was very well done. A great introduction to the fundamental concepts. I presume there will be more to come?

You bet. We are just looking for more ideas - some thoughts that have come through so far: patching, dmx universes, ml personalities. Let me know if you have any others.

I would like to see how Record, Record Only, Update and Track/QOnly are supposed to be used. Maybe a story line about building up a simple show using palettes, presets, and cues, then having to make some changes during tech rehearsal.

Yeah, sk8rsdad's right, you could cover a lot, starting off with hanging and focusing, patching, basically talk though the programing, then playing back cues. Videos are great for learning this stuff, so much better than a 500 page manual. Then maybe after that adding LED's, Srollers, ML's. All that fun stuff. The more episodes the better, ETC is a company with heaps of great products, so try and talk through from the Basics, right up there.
Are Bobble Head Fred action figures available?
Nick

Sadly, I don't think there will be action figures per se, but you never know when a Bobblehead might show up outside these hallowed walls. For those of you who don't know, the Bobbleheads were a factory wide swag to celebrate Fred's 50th birthday.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Keep them coming. The production team is gleaning through the list to see what will be next on Bobblehead Fred's schedule.

Great video. Really good explanation of the terms. Would love to see follow up videos on this topic and others. The white paper was good as well, I would definitely make sure that these are included for other videos.
But, please please please make sure that you keep them free and full length on your website.

Yes, free is definitely good. I like free.
