The Nomad would be a great solution. My #1 recommendation.
#2 recommendation would be an ETC SmartFade. You would be able to get 2.

Now I'm pushing the envelope of my skill-set here, but I think the SmartFade might be my #2 recommendation as well. That's because, although I've never used one, it seems like a very good match for a high school that only needs dimming, not other parameters and, on top of that (and this is big, to me), ETC still lets you download a free Windows emulator for the device. For students, I think that could be an invaluable asset.

I nearly bought one of these myself, instead of writing my own program, because it does look so straightforward. I changed my mind only because it is a discontinued product. (But, eventually, all products are discontinued, aren't they?)

We haven't heard from the OP since this thread began. It would be interesting to know if any of the advice posted here seems useful to her.

OP said it had to come from a "reputable source," not that it couldn't be used. However, given how fragile her funding situation seems to be, I expect used would be unlikely. Wish she'd come back and tell us if we are being of any help.

Might be a rare occassion I suggest Leprecon. 2 scene presets with memory.

I second a Leprecon 48 slider 2-scene preset board! LOVED designing and board-oping on this back in college. learned the "art of the cross-fade".
