Poly Muslin?

Set designer is wanting to create a shadow puppet effect behind a "red curtain." I've done this before with light-weight natural muslin but wondering if Rosebrand's Poly Muslin would offer the same surface qualities for making shadow puppets. It is available in the red color -- I'm trying to avoid having to dye a crap load of fabric for this project.

If you've used this product before, advice welcome. Open to other fabric suggestions as well!

Poly-Muslin isn't a bad choice. You will need to dye it rather than paint it for it to be translucent. China Silk might be a better option.
Pol-Mus isn't really all that different except in the shrinkage department.

Would it work to use a normal (white) curtain and a red light to create the shadows? Or does the curtain need to be red from the front when not being used for the effect? Gelling a light, if that's workable, would be a wee bit easier than dying a bunch of fabric.
