I've thought for awhile having the conference here in Boston would be fun.

Wasn't there a boston USITT in the 1980s? Maybe early 90s. It was at the Sheraton IIRC because I had worked on the design of a custom light fixture in the Boston Sheraton's port cochere.

Dave and I had a great talk with the guy who plans the USITT shows during LDI. There is a set of factors they look at in location selection. Unfortunately, as USITT has grown, there is a very limited list of locations they can go to that are large enough for the convention while being reasonably priced enough that they don't have to dramatically increase their prices to us. I believe he said there are only about 15 venues that currently hit the correct balance of factors for USITT to consider them. Hopefully that list will grow in time. Or USITT will continue to get bigger and make other locations possible. But for now we are in between large enough to require a larger venue, but not quite enough attendees to make many places affordable. So, the choices are limited.
