Primary light in your theatre?

In the theater here we are still building our inventory. We started with about twelve 360Qs of various sizes, ten 6" fresnels, and four scoops. We now have added twelve source 4s, six more 6" fresnels, four S4 pars, and we are looking at adding borderlights next year. I am the first real lighting person they have had here, so I have been knee deep in graphite spray and old corroded sockets. Its getting better though, at least all the lights have been benched and stored properly after the last show...

I think in sports they call this a rebuilding year.

heard the Pacifics are absolute beauts...

The high school that i attend is very high tech, in the way of high schools. We use leco source fours, parnels, and fernels. The s4's reside on the catwalk or on the tension grid pipes for scrollers. The parnells and fernells are on the grid pipes to provide ligthing for the stage. We occasionally rent mac 2ks for special shows. We control everything from an ETC Expression with Emphasis board

Your not wrong. Better than Source 4's in just about every way. And you can make gobo's out of OHP film. Lets see ya do that in an S4!

And the 90's are nice too :)

Here's what we have in our high school auditorium - approx. 600 seats and built in 1991:

6 - Source 4 (19 deg)
30 - Source 4 (26 deg)
8 - Source 4 (36 deg)
10 - Source 4 (50 deg)
28 - Strand Leko (6x12)
12 - Strand Leko (6x16)
7 - Strand Leko (6x22)
19 - 360Q (6x12)
3 - 360Q (6x9)
9 - 360Q (6x16)
8 - 14" Altman Focusing Scoops (not used for years, just hanging in the rafters)
4 - Altman 3-section Hanging Cyc
4 - Altman 3-section Ground Cyc
20 - Altman 6" 1 KAF
11 - Altman 6" 65Q
2 - Clay Paky Stage Scans
1 - Diversitronics Strobe
3 - Black Light Wash units
24 - Apollo Color Scrollers
2 - Right Arms
2 - Midget HP Spots (1206 I believe)

Being run off a ETC Express 24/48.

Pretty sure that should be it.

EDIT: We also have 8 ETC PARs and 4 PARnels as worklight. I may switch those out with just our old scoops, since we never use those. That way the PARs and PARnels could be used for actual performances.

High school: We went through a few generations of gear inside both of our venues.
The lamps that stuck around were of course old (and newer) 360Q 6x9, 6x12, 6x16s. More of the 6x9s though.
Tons of Strand Lekolites, Century Patt. 263, Fresnelites, EC Fresnels, old Altman border lights, and Altman EC-1 cyc.
We got some S4 26 and 50s and some Selecon Pacific. We split them up into both of our venues.
Two Altman 1K "Altspot" follow spots. Numerous Altman 500W-1000W Par64 too.

6x12, 6x9, Patt263, usually for FOH LX
Selecons, usually reserved for choir LX.
S4s and 6x16s, usually for onstage specials and tips.
EC Fresnels, Fresnelites, usually for backs.

I'd usually switch it up a lot when my turn came around to design the main stage shows...

As far as control and dimming goes... old Strand/Rank raceways, Two 12 x 2.4kw Strand CD80 Packs in one venue, and 18 old 0-10v analog 2.4kw Dilor and EC dimming in the other. A 12 x 1.5kw Colortran ENR portable rack sometimes found it's way in to both venues. A 12ch Dilor analog board in one venue, and a 24ch Strand MX in the other.

A few years ago, shortly before grad, we got two ETC SmartFades installed in the venues along with some SmartPacks and analog-digital conversion equipment.
That board was great for the non-tech savvy students, sucked for me to program on. Although the OLE was nice.

I now go around to different schools, see tons of old Strand stuff, and tons of the old Altmans. As well as Source 4s.
A 200 or MX here and there, but mostly 300s, Innovators, and Express 72/144 in my area. With Sensor or CD80 rack dimming.
