Device to determine location of an object, usually for the purpose of automation. Often consists of a magnet and a voltage detector. For an automatic wagon tracking system, sensors might be placed in the onstage "playing" position and the offstage "storage" position.

    Allen-Bradley Sensors

Similar devices are found inside moving lights, to determine "home" positions of color and gobo wheels, pan and tilt ranges, et cetera.
