Control/Dimming Regular dimmers to DMX

We currently have three regular in wall dimmers that power the house lights in our theatre. We want to get them converted so they can run on the board. We also have a very limited number of dimmers so we were thinking use a dimmer pack. would the best option just be to spice the wire in the junction on the ceiling, convert to edison and go into a pack? Lemme know your thoughts. Also we are going to get LED's to replace the 22 100w houselights we have, total load will be under 300w at full. Thanks

Below is a picture of the current dimmers.

I assume you mean you are relamping fixtures with LED lamps and know that dimming performance is less nice than incandescent. You definitely need a very good dimmer - and wall boxes are not that good. I'd look at the Doug Fleenor DMX8DIM product, hardwired to existing lighting. http://www.dfd.com/dmx8dim.html Just blank existing wall box dimmers and install the Fleenor box wherever it fits and wiring is minimized. It dimm anything - a total of up to 8 - 200 amp loads - so zone the existing same as now and you minimize wiring work. The only LED replacement loamps I'd look at are TCP. http://www.tcpi.com/

You'll need to have this done professionally, because it won't be that simple. You can't splice from the wall dimmer and convert to Edison to go to a dimmer pack (against NEC and probably ADA).

I agree. Buy the dimmer pack with terminals and have it hard wired. That Fleenor pack is $750 but it' is a lot better than disco boxes for what you want to do - good control of retrofit LED lamps - and I think you could hire an electrician to install and wire it in a day. YOu can run the DMX if you know what you are doing and DMX; otherwise coordinate it all through a dealer.
