S4 Lustr with Conventional Support

I was speaking with a designer about a year or so ago about ETC's S4 LEDs. They mentioned something about using them in a system, but also a S4 with N/C paired up with them to act as a support for it. The reasoning was that since the white color rendering wasn't always optimum, this would fill in the missing frequencies omitted by the LEDS.

Have any of you heard of using this approach? Also, if so, is this an issue with the Series 2?

Cheers!

I haven't done it with an S4 ERS but my top light system is Desire D40 Vivids paired with S4 fresnels lamped at 375W. Mostly we use the D40s but the fresnels come in handy with shutter cuts for box sets.

The places a conventional source 4 outdoes a LED are in the white/CTB. It's when you start subtracting from the white light and get into saturated colors that LED's stand out. Hanging a N/C and L201 Source 4 next to a Lustr2 is one method of approaching this--though only really necessary if you anticipate wanting a lot of white/CTB looks.
