While surfing the 'New From LDI 2016' info emails I came across this company/product. It looks to be a 'safe'/no flame pyro fountain effect. Sparkular is the company's US name.

Maybe this has been around for a while and Im just now seeing it, but this seems very interesting. The website doesn't give much info, but if you go to the UK site it has a little more content, which always seems to be the case.
Looks like it works by using a titanium alloy particle heated up enough to glow or illuminate and is blown out the top of the unit. They have multiple videos of them putting fairly flammable materials directly in the path of the effect with no burning or catching fire evident.
