Sennheiser Wireless Handheld Gold Mount

Question about longeviety.
I've never thought about it before, but on a Sennheiser EW300 handheld microphone, unthreading the bottom to replace the batteries is also decoupling the capsule from the body.
Since these contacts are gold, is there a possibility of them wearing out?

In the past I've heard gold contacts are soft and wear out quickly.

Any insight?

The plating on contacts is a much harder material than the malleable gold used in jewelry. Anything can wear out, but I wouldn't worry about it.

I first learned about it in a computer class and how RAM has gold contacts and is only rated to be re-seated about a dozen times.
Good to know these contacts aren't like this but kind of a weird engineering choice to have those separate and re join with every battery change.

Most RAM sockets never see the light of day. In a small percentage of computers, RAM gets changed once during its lifetime. The RAM socket designers probably didn't care how many insertion and removal cycles they would last. I'm pretty sure Sennheiser gave their product design more consideration.
