Strand Classic Palette Opinions

I have an opportunity to buy a Strand Palette Classic. It's coming from a guy I know who is in the storage unit buying business, and yes I'm planning on running the serial number.

Aside from a dilapidated box, the board is in excellent condition - appears to be unused as it's still in plastic wrap. MFR date of 2008. He wants $600 for it as I have also bought multiple VL's from him (guess he hit the motherload?).

What do you guys think of this board? Is it worth the price? How is the moving light functionality? I noticed that it only has one encoder wheel.

$600 doesn't even buy a new SmartFade. May be a little long in the tooth, but even if you don't have a particular use for it it'd either make a decent in-a-pinch backup console, or you could turn around and sell it for a higher price.

Make sure to open the console up to see if the channel key is installed. Probally just a stock 100 channels but with out it you have no output. It will be the Red usb stick and it should have the channel count wrote on it.
