Strand Palette II line

I'm looking at getting a new console for one of our Dance Studio spaces that is used for performances. They currently have an Express 24/48 and want me to look into Strand (because the primary designer is used to the OLD Palette language). The space has 36 dimmers and only conventionals; technical upgrades in the future might include scrollers or LEDs, but not likely movers of any kind.
so, the question is
What are peoples experiences with the new Palette II line (both Basic and Classic)?
How different is the OS syntax different from the old palette syntax or even that of the old 300 (which we have in mothballs.)?

The Command Line language, of which you speak, was originated by Strand and much of the groundwork has been continued thru the 300/500 and then up to Palette and now NEO. Originally it didn't have a lot of language for automated luminaires and we have often found better ways to add additional language for this technology or found a better graphical solution to the programming. In short, you should find that any full featured desk from Strand (whether it's Palette or NEO) can fulfill you needs. Everyone has an opinion of the "preferred" way to do it but it's likely all there.
