Oh, and to address the prime question of this:
Yes, turning Auto-Playback off *does* solve my fundamental problem. Sometimes, I end up with a different problem, which is that I want to fiddle with things, and then restore a cue to the submasters, and *then* release it for further editing, and the faders on my 2x20 wing, damnit, steadfastly refuse to be motorized...
But I know how to do that manually: you do it the same way you do on a smartfade -- you play the cue, and hand fiddle the faders til they're in the right place per the tombstone display, and then you goto-q 0 to release it.
Gonna mark this one CLOSED FIXED, and move right on to 6.
