Super Glue and Baking Soda?

Am I the first or last person to hear that you can bond, fill, and repair anything with Super Glue and Baking Soda? Is this real? Seems like the most useful trick for the shop I've never heard of.

Same general concept as West micro filler used with the West epoxy system.

But probably a whole lot cheaper!
 
I learned about this recently! In addition, I only learned about the super glue activator spray a few years ago.
 
great is this the next terrible repair trend? remember when people were fixing broken sinks with ramen and epoxy?
 
Also I'm not a chemist. why baking soda? why not sawdust or naval lint?

Baking soda is a lot safer than Glass micro-balloons.
 
There are some advocates for using cotton fibers and "super glue" as a durable filler.
