Take the training, Young Skywalker

I spent a couple of hours online yesterday (no surprise so far) and took a Covid Compliance Office course from Health Education Services.

It's not a "take the test, here's your certificate" training, it's more of a starting point that introduces you to the scope and scale of C19CO duties in the film, TV, and video/commercial crafts. You are encouraged to take additional free training from W.H.O. and C.D.C. to make one a better on-set, on-location expert on level with a stunt coordinator or fight coordinator. Organizationally the C19CO is on the same level as the medics or other health and safety compliance officers and ideally reporting only to the producer.

Much of the guidance adopted for film/TV/video production translates to theater. Some of the depth and intensity of Covid avoidance in production will not scale well to live performances of most types while others will make work flow and scheduling more 'interesting' but be achievable. It's only money!

So take the training and *do* take notes. I had 5 notebook pages and got a 95.7% on the test. H.E.S. sends a link to downloadable documents, official guidance links, and other relevant info AFTER you take the test - which you need to do right after the class. You may or may not need your notes.

Even if you have no desire to become a compliance officer this course will clue you in as to what things might look like as we go back and help communicate that it's best to take this all seriously.
