    1. The part of a follow spot used to adjust the focal length of the instrument. Pulling back on the trombone shortens the focal length and creates a wider beam. Pushing forward on the trombone increases the focal length, creating a smaller beam.

    2. Film/TV Lighting. Also known as a stirrup hanger, hardware for tail down to adjust the height of a hanging luminaire.
