Truck Estimates

Unfortunately it's more common than you think, especially on the low-tier S SET contracts where you have young first-time Head Carpenters who have the head rush of newly found authority without the experience or technical footing to back up their egos. A lot of them fall back on their macho facade to cover for the fact that they don't feel empowered to make decisions, and blindly trust that decisions made by the TD and Production Staff were the end-all be-all of decisions and they are reticent to shift from those plans because they aren't sure in themselves.

I know how common it is unfortunately. I have had to reason with a few of them. Normally talking calmly with them and explaining how the promoter rep is going to hate to see a revised labor bill is enough of a reason for them to see the light.

It's 3am, the road crew is frantically pulling and switching things from trucks, yelling, trying to make it fit.
It's 330am, It has been politely yet firmly explained that we will be going to double time at 4am.
It's 345am, the road crew has disappeared.
It's 355am, we're told to push everything remaining out into the parking lot.
It's 4am, not our problem anymore .
