Movie Props, Costumes and Scale Models | the RPF is just about the best prop replica forum around. Think of CB but for props. Tons of industry professionals there. this is how I met Adam Savage. They only allow registration at certain times of the year, it looks like it is currently open to join.

I would second the stagecraft mailing list. lots of great information from a ton of really smart people on there.
