Wireless Clearcom Burst of Static

Hello all,

We have a Clearcom WTR-670 base station along with 4 WTR-670 belt packs. All packs are set to "Push to Transmit". One of the packs is creating a burst of static when the talk button is released. We tried switching it to "Push to Talk" but with poor signal where the pack is being used, it will not keep a clear connection and cuts in/out providing constant bits of static. So we have gone back to "Push to Transmit" but still have the burst issue.

Does anyone have experience with this issue?

Thanks,

Wags

First thing comming to my mind is something interferring with the frequency of that pack.

If possible take a look on all packs and the base, and see what frequency they use.

Sadly we had to scrap our old Clearcom due to the frequency band getting off for broadcast use. :(

I will look into it further tomorrow, but we are in a show right now. We're fairly certain it is not a frequency issue, considering it only creates the burst on the release of the talk button. But, not impossible.

Also, it doesn't do it every time. It is intermittent.

Our base station transmit is in the 600 range, while the belt packs are in the 500s. We have not had to scrap our system yet, as T-Mobile hasn't deployed 600MHz in Dallas just yet. It's coming though.

What system did you end up going to?

Actually RF interference does make sense in this case... here is why?
The receiver stays muted, (blocking any interference) until the "Talk" button is pressed... The receiver receives signal from the beltpack, and un-mutes, carrying the beltpack signal. (And it broadcast the stronger signal... a phenomena known as "FM Capture"
Once the talk button is released, the beltpack stops transmitting. The receiver looses the beltpack signal, but now has the interfering signal for a moment before it mutes itself.

As a test, can you swap two beltpack frequencies, and see if the problem follows a beltpack or stays with the frequency?

Good luck.
