I can explain to you a
chase and a
fade though.
Fade-
Let's say you have a
fixture whose
intensity is at 75%. You need it to come down to 25%. You have a couple options - with no
fade, just
drop it straight there - very abrupt.
When something is faded, that change from 75% to 25% will happen gradually over a period of time you specify. If you say 5 seconds, 10% light output
drop per second in this scenario.
Chase-
You ahve a pipe below with 5 fixtures on it:

In a simple
chase, this would be hte sequence of events:
Light A on
Light A off
Light B on
Light B off
Light C on
Light C off
Light D on
Light D off
Light E on
Light E off
Light A on
Light A off
Light B on
Light B off
Light C on

Light E on
Light E off
etc
Visually, the light chases from left to right.
