Flat, Hollywood

Also referred to as a Studio flat, this style of flat construction started on the West coast in the Hollywood Movie studios. Hollywood flat construction differs from Broadway flat construction in that the framing members of the flat, typically 1 X 3 are attached perpendicular to the facing material. Many people choose to cover Hollywood flats with a thin Plywood commonly referred to as Luan, or door skins.
