uplighting

A mobile-DJ/event lighting/party-planning term. Uplighting is lighting the walls of a room, to accent existing or add to add missing architectural elements, with either a narrow beam instrument to create shafts or streaks of light, or a wide angle (wall-washer, cyc light) to flood the entire wall.



Any theatrical luminaire can be used, previously often small PAR fixtures on pigeon plates, but recently flat LED "puck" type fixtures have all but taken over.
