A specification of a light source's hue, expressed in degrees Kelvin. Lower numbers are more red or orange, and higher temperatures are more blue. Almost all stage/studio tungsten-halogen lamps are 3200K. Most discharge lamps used in moving lights and followspots are 5000-6000K.

Balancing color temperatures is much more important in photography, film, and video than live performance, as the human eye is more forgiving and adaptable than a camera.
