Developed in the late 1700s by Frenchman Charles Augustin de Coulomb it describes the electrostatic forces between electric charges. There are two main equations deriving from the Law; the Scalar Form and the Vector Form. In a scenario where direction is needed, the Scalar Form is required.

Scalar Form
F=[(q1q2)/(r^2)]Ke

Where q1=charge
q2=second charge
r=distance between the two charges
Ke=8.9876x10^9 Nm^2C^-2
