Debouncing is the practice of filtering a binary input so that any "bouncing" of the physical sensor associating with a genuine activation does not result in repeated false triggering of the system attached to that input. Examples of "bouncing" could be a person's finger momentarily letting up on a button, a door rattling in its frame causing a reed switch to open and close, a momentary drop in radio communication, etc.
