FTC

Federal Trade Commission. FTC is commonly associated with defining one of the standard amplifier power rating methods. The FTC methodology rates the power over a wide frequency range, typically 20-20kHz, and at a defined THD level, typically 0.1%. The test also involves operating all channels simultaneously and a long 'warm up' period prior to testing. Because of the test conditions it typically results in lower ratings than the EIA method and is often not published for low impedance loads such as 2 Ohm. Also see Electronics Industry Association.
