Also sometimes called a pinch cleat.

A method of holding or mounting commonly used for mounting cabinetry easily.
In essence two strips of wood ripped at matching angle so that they will become captive (with aide of the effect of gravity). The added bonus is that with this method the joint is secure yet flexible (you can still move or remove it).

For mounting Cabinetry:
Simply Mount one piece of the cleat (angle cut up) to the wall (level/plumb/square if you will) in the desired location, and the other to the back of the cabinet. Then set the cabinet onto the other piece.
You can either use two cleats (top and bottom), or use one cleat top and a spacer bottom.
