There have been many attempts to distinguish hanger Iron and hanging iron, and all have failed. Today, the two terms are used interchangeably, with their use defined by the prefixes "Lighting" and "Scenery".

Scenic:

Stage hardware for lifting and suspending scenic elements. both have a D-ring as the lift point. Both irons should be thru-bolted to item being lifted.


Lighting:
A pair (one at each end) used to suspend a section of compartmentalized border light. Takes the place of trunnions which are used when the fixture is floor-mounted.
