Kabuki drop

The releasing of a thin, lightweight fabric drop from above often via solenoid. Most often the drop is in place, and the top is released and the whole curtain falls to the deck. Another type has the goods bunched up and releases only the bottom.

The attached video from Rose-Brand calls these two different yet similar actions "Conceal" and "Reveal", with the perspective relating to something upstage of the curtain.
