Knox Box

A box used to store keys that fire departments can access during an emergency. Made by the Knox corporation.

Usually mounted near the main entrance of the building. It is a safe-like box that can store keys, elevator keys, building plans, contact numbers, and other emergency procedures. All Knox Boxes in a fire district are keyed alike and the fire department has the only key. In the event of an emergency, a fire fighter can open the Knox Box, take the building keys, and gain access to the building without forcible entry.
