McCandless

Stanley McCandless can be considered the father of lighting design.

His famous and common approach to lighting design was first proposed in his book, A Method of Lighting the Stage. Actors are lit from the front, while also being lit from opposing sides with warm from one light (usually amber) and cool light from the opposing side (usually blue.)
