A Real Time Analyzer, sometimes called an Audio Spectrum Analyzer, is a device that shows the amplitude of various frequency components within a specified bandwidth. In many cases, this bandwidth is 20 kHz, and the display ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a logarithmic frequency scale. RTA devices are useful for determining if a sound system is flat when pink noise is measured, or for finding a frequency which is louder than everything else (for instance, when a sound system feeds back).
