Sometimes shortened to hand, any worker who works backstage with the technical aspects of a production. Often further sub-divided into carpenters, prop persons, electricians, dressers, etc. An alternative term is "stage technician" or even newer "live entertainment technician," as in some locales, to be called a stagehand, one must be a member of the IATSE union.
