UHMW

Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethylene. Possessing many of the same properties as HDPE, is often preferred in theatre due to its black color.

UHMW is not inherently black, it comes opaque and translucent.
Opaque colors White, Off-white, Gray, Blue, and BLACK
Translucent colors are Translucent white and translucent Beige.

In addition to having a slippery surface like PTFE, UHMW has better impact resistance but operates in a much narrower temperature range than PTFE. Good for lining conveyor belts, guide rails, and work tables, or for making bearings or bushings.

There are many different types of UHMW,
Conductive with graphite embedded
Antimicrobial with silver embedded
Static dissipative
Oil impregnated
