  2. hairline mic

One of a variety of wireless mic'ing techniques common in musical theatre where sound reinforcement is necessary for individual performer's voices (for speech and more importantly singing).

See Wireless Mic Techniques.

This describes a microphone capsule nestled just outside of the hair line on the performer. The wire typically is attached to the hair via a clip and also commonly further clipped or taped to the performer via the wire leading from the transmitter.

The "body-pack" wireless transmitter can be placed in various locations via different methods on the performer. Common methods include a waist-belt holder custom made to hold the transmitter on the performer under their wardrobe.
