ATA case

"ATA case" has become something of a Generic term. Originally it designated a case designed to the standards of the Air Transport Association, an industry trade group that deals with cargo transport by air. More recently, however, it has come to designate any case with plastic covered plywood sides connected by extruded aluminum channels, ball corners, and cam action latches. The case will usually have a gray open cell foam interior made to form fit the item inside. They are also made with an interior EIA standard 19" rack suspended by foam, springs, or cables.
