auditeria

A made-up word to define a space used as both an auditorium and cafeteria, usually used synonymously with cafetorium (cafeteria+auditorium). There may be a distinction between the two, that being the only auditeria (officially labeled as such on building signage) I've ever seen had elevated seating levels, each 6-8" higher than the one in front. Every cafetorium has a flat audience floor.

Usually much-maligned by theatre students and professionals, the reality is that a multi-purpose space is usually more economical than multiple purpose-built, single-use spaces. And some can be quite nice, with fully-equipped stages with fly system, lighting, sound, etc.

See also gymatorium, gymnatorium.
