The best examples of commercial theatre is Broadway. People are out to make the big bucks. This is the type of theatre that has a big financial backer (like Disney or Cameron Mackintosh) who is looking to make a profit. They rent a theatre and put on their show. This is also the category that encompasses touring companies. Though mostly all union jobs, there can be non-union commercial theatre.
