As it applied to the 1979 Strand-Century Light Palette (and other consoles of that era) was a mini console that could be placed at the tech table during rehearsals. The remote console shared the command line with the main console, and many modern systems continue this tradition. Much of the same functionality can be accomplished with the combination of RVI and RFU. But becoming popular are systems that allow simultaneous, multi-session, multiple users.
