ground row

1. (aka "electrics groundrow") A group of cyc or strip lights that sits on the stage floor used to light a cyclorama or drop. The units are laid end to end to create a big row with all instruments focused up at the cyc or drop.

Typically 3-cell or 4-cell cyc light instruments are used. Many people prefer to gel the units red, blue, and green to facilitate color mixing.

2. A low two-dimensional scenic unit, sometimes with the top profiled, used to mask the bottom of an upstage cyc or backdrop and any lighting fixtures behind.
