hot restrike

When speaking of arc lamps the ability of a lamp to be re-ignited soon after extinguishing, such as after a hard-reset. A desirable feature, and found in almost all lamps used in moving lights. Many HMI lamps used in Film/TV studio fixtures do not have this feature, and must be cooled before being restruck.
