House

The part of the theater where the audience sits. Locations within the house are discussed from the audience's point of view facing the stage. So they are the opposite of stage directions. An actor standing Stage Right will be directly in front of a person standing House Left.

Some people, especially in the Audio World, refer to things in the house as being located FOH or Front Of House.

Belonging to the venue, to distinguish from equipment or personnel that is brought in. House dimmers vs. road dimmers; house crew vs. road crew, etc.
